Gartner recognizes Tegile Systems as a Visionary on Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Disk Arrays!!

I am very pleased to announce that Tegile Systems has been included in Gartner’s 2014 Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Disk Arrays. Tegile is very nicely placed in the visionary quadrant – right where a solid startup should be, based on our ability to execute and completeness of vision. Gartner defines a visionary company as:

“A vendor in the Visionaries quadrant delivers innovative products that address operationally or financially important end-user problems at a broad scale, but has not demonstrated the ability to capture market share or sustainable profitability. Visionary vendors are frequently privately held companies and acquisition targets for larger, established companies. The likelihood of acquisition often reduces the risks associated with installing their systems”

Gartner attributes Tegile’s multiprotocol support of FC, iSCSI, NFS and SMB (CIFS) protocols, our comprehensive instrumentation and powerful IntelliFlash algorithms as key components that differentiate our products. Gartner also notes that our in-line deduplication and compression technologies allow us to aggressively price our systems, because our configurations are typically 2X to 5X smaller than what other vendors need to supply to deliver similar performance and capacity.

To be balanced, I will also note the cautions Gartner wrote about regarding Tegile. First, they noted our lack of synchronous replication. This is really a nonuse for us, since our customers want to leverage the power of flash, inducing latency due to synchronous remote replication is not interesting. Our asynchronous replication moves data to another Tegile array without getting in the way of low latency consistency. Gartner also notes that we have work to do integrating with more backup/restore solutions. I agree and am happy to report that we have more and more backup/restore, database and hypervisor certifications being worked on every day. We recently were granted our Oracle Validated configuration, and have seen Oracle opportunities skyrocket in our sales pipeline.

So, thank you to Stan Zaffos, Roger Cox, Valdis Filks and Sheila Childs over at Gartner for your continued support. We are elated to be part of the MQ family.
