The famed composer Oscar Hammerstein stated, “If you become a teacher, by your pupils you’ll be taught.” With gratitude for lessons learned, this Thanksgiving we share thanks for our Summer Interns at Tegile Systems.
The gift that keeps on giving
We learned a lot from our Interns this summer at Tegile, such as how to inject fun into a marketing video.
We also learned that we need to give better instructions to Social Media Interns, such as, “Do not put logos of our competitors in your Vine videos.”
If you want to know what our Summer Interns learned while working at Tegile, check out their stories below. If you are interested to work for Tegile, see our open opportunities. Is there one for you?

Attends Texas A&M
Austin Nelson will be a senior at Texas A&M this year. This summer at Tegile he worked on the SMB team, wrote a GDB macro to make debugging the code easier, and added a couple functions to the code. Austin heard about this internship from his father, Dean Nelson, a Sales Representative at Tegile. The best thing he learned during this internship was what it is like to work as a Computer Engineer in a corporate environment. In the future, he might like to pursue a career in Computer Engineering. When not studying or working as an Intern, Austin likes to hang out with friends, watch movies, and wakeboard.
Chloe Ng is entering her third year at UC Riverside this year. This summer at Tegile, she managed multiple social media profiles and wrote messages to promote videos and promotions. Chloe heard about this internship from her mother, Echo Kuan, a Cost Accountant at Tegile. The best lesson that Chloe learned during this internship was how important it is to ask questions for clarification; and to step up and ask if there is more work to be done to help the team reach its goal. In her future, Chloe would like to pursue a career in Marketing. When not studying or working as an Intern, Chloe enjoys playing basketball, volleyball, and even singing while playing the piano and guitar. You can connect with her on LinkedIn and Twitter.
Attends San Jose
Edward Ciotic is senior at San Jose State University. This summer at Tegile he worked on a data analytics tool for the Support Team to diagnose customer issues faster and more efficiently. When not studying or working as an Intern, he likes programming things. You can connect with Edward on LinkedIn.

Her summer assignments at Tegile included corporate event planning, social media messaging and scheduling, and planning the VMworld kick-off party for our company. Jessica learned of the internship from her friend, Daniel Tehrani, an Inside Sales Representative at Tegile. Over the course of her internship, Jessica learned how critical organization and time management is to be an effective player in the Marketing world. In the future, Jessica would like to pursue a career Marketing and Health Coaching. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors (away from the office!). Kaila attends San Jose
Kaila Maranon is a senior who will graduate from San Jose State University in December. Kaila learned about this internship from her father, Renato Maranon, Vice President of Worldwide Engineering. This summer, she wrote a variety of text, including technical articles, interviews, and case studies for Tegile’s website and blog. Kaila also helped to maintain a database of completed sales contracts. The best lesson she learned this summer was how to use her writing skills to produce technical articles (instead of writing for academia or fiction). In the future, Kaila might like to pursue a career in Museum Curation or Conservation work, hopefully in the Art of the 18th Century French Revolution. When not studying or working as an Intern, Kaila enjoys writing, reading, drawing, and studying pieces at museums. You can connect with Kaila on LinkedIn and Twitter.
Attends San Jose
Kevin Oliva is a senior at San Jose State University. This summer, he worked on the SFDC Historical Cleanup Project, as well as invoicing and quoting via QuickBooks and Salesforce. He first heard about this internship from his father, George Oliva, the Corporate Controller at Tegile. Nam Nguyen is a freshman at UC Irvine. His summer assignments at Tegile included social media promotion on LinkedIn and Twitter, as well as research and writing of case studies and whitepapers for Tegile’s website. He first heard about the internship from his aunt, Titi Doan, an Engineer at Tegile. Over the course of his internship, Nam gained valuable understanding of the discipline needed in an office environment, as well as the complex flow of communication and collaboration between employees. In the future, Nam is interested to pursue a career in Business or Finance. In his free time, Nam enjoys physical activities such as sports, working out, and hiking. You can connect with Nam online via LinkedIn or Twitter.
Nitin attends American High School
Nitin Sampath is a senior at American High School in Fremont, California. This summer he worked on various assignments: he created social media messages for Twitter and LinkedIn, managed an executive’s LinkedIn account and experimented with applications like Vine and Periscope as potential marketing channels. Nitin heard about this internship from his dad, Sam, a Senior Engineer at Tegile. Through this internship, Nitin learned not to be afraid of asking questions and getting clarification. In the future, Nitin looks forward to pursuing a career in Computer Science or Finance. Out of the office, you might find Nitin creating a beat on the drums and inventing new rhythms. You can connect with Nitin on Twitter and LinkedIn.
Rachael attends Carthage College
Rachael Lund is a freshman at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Her summer assignments at Tegile included managing social media and analytics, with emphasis on events in the central Midwest region. She first heard about the internship from her father, Tim Lund, a Regional Sales Director at Tegile. Throughout her internship, Rachael learned the importance of teamwork as a way to ensure top-quality work. After college, she plans to pursue a career in Music performance with a particular interest in relocating to Japan. In her free time she enjoys playing games with her friends on Steam, as well as practicing her musicianship through Flute studies. You can connect with Rachael via LinkedIn and Twitter.

Over the summer Roshan worked on social media messages for the News and Customer Insight sections of Tegile’s website. He has also worked on an inventory of the flash array testing lab, as well as a product brief, “5 Reasons to Deploy SharePoint with Tegile IntelliFlash.” He heard about the internship through his father, Narayan Venkat, CMO at Tegile. Over the course of his internship, Roshan has learned how crucial personal accountability is in the workplace, especially for the sake of the team. He is leaning toward pursuing a career in Computer Science after college, with particular interest in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, dancing, school debates, and outdoor activities. You can connect with Roshan via LinkedIn and Twitter.
Ryan attends Fremont High School
Ryan Lee is in his junior year at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, California. This summer at Tegile he worked primarily with Josh DeSherlia, assisting him with whatever he needs. Ryan worked on training videos for the support team, as well as various videos for the Bits & Bytes series. Ryan heard about this internship from his wrestling coach, Josh DeSherlia, who works in Product Marketing at Tegile. The best thing Ryan learned during his internship is how important the Marketing team is in a company. Prior to this experience, Ryan did not believe the Marketing team was essential for a company’s success, but now thinks that Marketing is extremely important. In the future, I might like to pursue a career in Software Engineering. When I am not studying or working as an intern, I like to wrestle. You can find me here on Twitter.
