I’ve been to a lot of new hire training classes in the startups I’ve worked for and, later in the big companies that acquired them. The new hire class we had at Tegile HQ last week will be remembered long past the others for the energy and vibe it had.
The class was comprised of a diverse group, with deep storage industry experience from working at NetApp, EMC, Dell, Compellent, HP, 3PAR, XIO, VMware and others. More importantly, it was full of energetic people that know why they joined Tegile and were excited about the future here developing, selling and supporting our IntelliFlash arrays. There was a lot of depth, focus and interaction in class as well as during evening socializing. The class connected across geos and job roles, something that will be valuable on both work and personal levels.
A lot of credit goes to the people who organized the content and presented, including the training and employee development team, our executives, founders and a wide range of employees who brought passion and openness. This was not training about policy, process and rules – it was all about customers, competitors, flash technology, partners and products. I still don't know how to submit an expense report or vacation request (btw, we have the most liberal vacation policy I’ve ever seen) – and that’s just fine with me.
