Tegile Systems Intelligent Flash Arrays Enable an Extra 62,000 Patient Visits Per Year to Cherry Health Providers

Newark, Calif. – June 23, 2015 –Tegile Systems, the leading provider of flash-driven storage arrays for databases, virtualized server and virtual desktop environments, today announced that Cherry Health, Michigan’s largest Federally Qualified Health Center, has implemented its intelligent flash storage system to allow providers fast access to patient records to enable better healthcare.

Established in 1988, Cherry Health’s network of 160 physician and mid-level providers at 27 sites in Michigan are focused on giving high-quality health services to those who have little or no access to healthcare, regardless of income or insurance status.  With a focus on making patients its No. 1 priority, Cherry Health reports several quality measures and maintains national accreditations based on its quality standards, which must be renewed on a regular basis.

The organization switched from a primarily paper-based record system to maintaining electronic records five years ago.  Operating in a completely thin client environment allows for better access to patient information, as well as for controlling access and security of that information.  With the need for its providers to access patient information quickly and regulatory pressure driving a lot of database growth, Cherry Health looked for a storage system where it could put all of its Tier 1 applications that needed to stay up and running.

After a successful 5-month proof of concept and testing to ensure that it would stand up to the rigors of day-to-day operations, Cherry Health began utilizing the speed and performance of Tegile’s Intelligent Flash Arrays for use with its Tier 1 applications within its production environment.  The extra speed allows providers at Cherry Health to focus on the quality of care they are giving their patients while improving the number of patients seen.
